As part of its mission to bring advanced care closer, Self Regional Healthcare hosted a monthlong series of special physician presentations for National Heart Month.

HeartMatters focused on early recognition of heart and vascular disease. Heart and vascular screenings were offered at no charge before each presentation. A question and answer session concluded each presentation.

“Open Heart Surgery:
Overview of Options”
Cardiologist Priya Kumar, M.D., will talk about early recognition as part of the fight against heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S. Cardiothoracic surgeon Claudio Guareschi, M.D.,
will discuss surgical options for the treatment of
heart disease.
“Heart Failure: What does it Mean?”
Cardiologist Mihai Croitoru, M.D., will discuss heart failure, its signs, treatments, and the latest information about this chronic disease. Vascular surgeon Je!rey E. Lanford, M.D., will
discuss the major risk factors associated with stroke
and what you can do to help protect yourself.
 
Cardiologist Paul E. Kim, M.D., will talk about heart attacks, one of the most prevalent aspects of heart disease. Learn about Self’s efforts to join county EMS in providing rapid access to life-saving information.
